Sedika Weingärtner was born Sedika Zhobel in Kabul, into a Persian-speaking family whose ancestors came to the city from Kashmir two centuries ago. Her grandfather, Mohammad Haider Zhobel, taught the history of Persian literature at Kabul University; her father, Mohammad Osman Zhobel, was a jurist who devoted forty-five years to law and justice. She left Afghanistan at the age of twenty-five.

Her writing joins personal testimony to geopolitical analysis. The Lost Daughter of the Hindu Kush (published as Sedika Zhobel) weaves her family’s history into an account of Afghanistan from the age of Khorasan and the Great Game to the second Taliban era, centred on identity, the Persian language, women’s freedom and the Persian idea of justice, dad. The Brzezinski Paradox is a concise handbook that re-examines the strategic assumptions of Zbigniew Brzezinski’s The Grand Chessboard against the multipolar realities of 2026.

Both books are published in English and German editions.
